My Story Series 1: Mr. Vineet Gupta

This was the inaugural My Story series lecture, and a fitting one at that. Vineet Gupta is one amongst the original group of Ashoka University’s founders, and thus it made all the more sense in him being the inaugural speaker. He is a first generation successful entrepreneur, currently spearheading Jamboree which is a successful entrepreneurial venture in the education space. He is a serial entrepreneur, and that came out strongly through his life story that he shared with us. He cited examples from his own life – he started 10 ventures of which 7 failed. But each failed venture was a learning experience in itself. He had in fact passed over a Yale offer to further his entrepreneurial ambitions. He also stressed the importance of not giving up even when being down and out. Despite having tasted success to a considerable degree, he came across as someone grounded and humble. His talk and brief presentation on entrepreneurial traits were followed by a Q&A session wherein he dealt with most questions with clear, concise and precise answers. Overall, it was an enriching experience for the large gathering that assembled in the CfE to hear him share his experiences.
